One Beam of Light
In early 2013 GNI projects were commissioned by Light Collective and Concord Sylvania to design a light sculpture as part of their One Beam of Light exhibition, which took place for one week in April in the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) London.
Our final design would become a physical representation of the essence of the exhibition itself and therefore goes by the same name. One beam of green laser bouncing from mirror to mirror in no particular pattern when viewed from most angles, but from only one position would reveal its meaning, which we chose to be the logo of the exhibition, the word LIGHT.
One Beam of Light consist of a free standing 2000x2000x1000mm outer frame constructed from square aluminium sections. Within this main frame a much finer tubular substructure is held in place by 98no. custom made cross joints, which enable the required positioning of the 49no. especially designed mirror heads.
We would like to thank everyone who enabled us to realise this project.
